What your rates pay for
Your rates help us deliver more than 100 services and programs that help make Yarra a fantastic place to live, work, and play.
Rates are the main way we fund our work. In our 2024/25 budget, rates accounted for 56% of our revenue, helping us:
- make repairs to roads, footpaths and other essential infrastructure as part of our capital works plan
- deliver 365 community grants
- plant 481 trees, which you can see on our urban forest dashboard
- maintain 1,200 hectares of parks, reserves and playgrounds
- divert 7,415 tonnes of waste from landfill to recycling, helping support our climate action plan
- administer 5,298 immunisations
- deliver 20,551 meals to older residents and residents living with disability
- teach 122,102 swimming lessons
- loan 497,982 books through our libraries.
