Heritage studies

Information from heritage studies have informed the heritage plans for Yarra.

When the council amalgamations occurred in the 1990s, the newly formed Yarra City Council committed to providing a consistent approach to heritage across the municipality.

Part of this commitment included reviewing heritage studies undertaken previously and updating the heritage overlay accordingly.

Since then, there have been a number of heritage studies done to identify additional areas in Yarra worthy of heritage protection.

You can see the heritage timeline below.

Heritage studies are reference documents in the Yarra planning scheme.

There have been a number of heritage gaps studies done to identify more areas of Yarra worthy of heritage protection.
