A closed planning file is a planning application where a decision has been made and therefore the file is closed.
You can apply to access a closed planning file here.
The information you can access includes:
- Application decision
- Endorsed plan/s and documents
- Delegate officer Report
Under the Information Privacy Act (2000), you cannot access any personal information from the planning file.

For files from 2018 and earlier, it may take up to 5 business days as these files are located in a secondary storage facility.
Yes. Fees cover providing copies of the information and the administrative costs involved in searching for and obtaining documents.
The cost to access is:
- Residential: $171.30 (GST inclusive)
- Other (mixed use/ commercial/ industrial/ multi unit): $457.85 (GST inclusive)
There may also be a fee applicable for the retrieval of a physical file.
