Parking bay occupation
What is a Parking Occupation?
A parking bay occupation allows a vehicle to temporarily occupy a parking space within a specified street on an approved date. This applies to permit zones and green-signed timed parking areas (1P or greater).
Parking bay occupation permits are issued as electronic permits and are linked to a specific vehicle registration number. Permits are valid only for the approved date(s) and do not reserve a specific parking bay within the street.
Parking bay occupation permits are issued for vehicles only. Trailers are not eligible under this permit type.
Shipping containers and portable storage units are managed separately under a Road Occupation Permit.
Important Information:
- A parking bay occupation permit does not guarantee a specific parking bay within the street
- The permit is valid only for the approved date(s) and location
- Approval is subject to assessment and availability
- Vehicles must comply with all other applicable parking restrictions unless otherwise specified in the permit conditions
- No refunds will be provided for unused permits or any changes in circumstances, including (but not limited to) change of mind, weather conditions, or inability to park in a preferred location
When applying, you must provide:
- Full name and address
- Date(s) of proposed parking bay occupation
- Number of vehicles
- Vehicle type(s)
- Vehicle registration number(s)
- Reason for the request
Applications must be submitted at least 5 business days in advance to allow sufficient time for assessment and processing.
Parking bay occupations will not be issued for the following areas:
- No stopping areas
- Access zones
- Mail zones
- Loading zones
- Green-signed areas under 1P
Parking bay occupations may be considered for the following purposes:
- Residential use (e.g. private functions such as funerals or home events)
- Moving house
- Filming activities
- Maximum of 3 permits at any one time
- Vehicles must not be heavy or long vehicles
Filming requests requiring more than 3 permits will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
