How the upgrades will improve the pavilion
The Yambla Pavilion is being delivered using a prefabricated modular building approach.
This method reduces construction costs and time on site, while still delivering the high‑quality facilities the community needs.
What’s included:
a new sporting pavilion designed to achieve a 6‑star Green Star equivalent rating
four permanent all‑gender changerooms
a new kiosk
club storage
a new social space
new all‑gender public toilets, including baby change facilities in the accessible toilet.
These improvements will support inclusive participation and ensure the pavilion meets the needs of a growing and diverse sporting community.
What’s happening now?
The existing pavilion has been demolished, and the new modular pavilion has been constructed off‑site.
We’re currently conducting the piling, foundation and footpath works before the new modules can be transported to the park.
The piling, foundation and footpath works will be completed in March 2026.
Pedestrian access through Quarries Park will remain open throughout construction.
Access to surrounding parkland and sports grounds will continue to be maintained.
Once the new pavilion is delivered and final works begin, the temporary changerooms currently on site will be removed.

The new modular pavilion has been largely constructed off-site, with final connections between modules to be completed on site. We have demolished the existing pavilion but we need to undertake piling and foundation work before we can transport the modules to site.
The piling work will start in January 2026 and be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting. The footpath works are expected to commence in February 2026 and be completed by March 2026.
Pedestrian access through Quarries Park will remain open during the works, with some short-term detours in place along the footpath while construction occurs. Small sections of the footpath may be temporarily closed during working hours to allow safe piling and concrete activities.
These areas will be clearly signed and reopened at the end of each day.
Access to surrounding park areas and sports grounds will continue to be maintained.
Once the new modular pavilion is delivered to site and final works commence, the current, temporary changerooms at the site will be removed.
We have been working closely with the local sporting clubs to ensure the upgrades meet the needs of the local community, including the installation of temporary changerooms to ensure the immediate needs of the sporting clubs can be met until the new pavilion is installed and operational.
Yarra City Council is committed to delivering on important, inclusive and accessible community sporting facilities that everyone can enjoy.
