Lumi
Learn more about our new approach to amenity, urban activation and perceptions of safety.
We have partnered with local businesses to deliver a new approach to amenity, urban activation and perceptions of safety.
Thanks to a $240,000 Victorian Government investment through the Community Crime Prevention Program we have installed an innovative art wall called LUMI in North Richmond.
About the project
LUMI is part of our Safe and Liveable Victoria Street Project. The permanent interactive installation showcases the first global use of industrial photoluminescent paint as an art medium. This paint is typically used for applications like bike lanes and exit signs.
Yarra Youth Services and Graffiti Diversion Program participants designed and painted the graffiti.
The project aims to:
- activate public spaces in a fun and interesting way
- improve positive activities
- add creative vibrancy in the area
- work as a graffiti deterrent.
Location
LUMI is on the wall of the Vic Bar at the corner of Park Street and Victoria Street in Abbotsford.
How to interact with LUMI
You can use your mobile phone or another light source to draw your own glow-in-the-dark creation on the mural.
