Charles Evans Reserve Upgrade
We're creating more space, more play and more sporting opportunities for the community in Cremorne.
We’re building a renewed, inclusive play space that supports creativity, movement and social connection.
The upgraded play space will include a:
- brand‑new combination play unit with climbing structure and toddler slide
- a regular swing and basket swing suitable for multiple ages and abilities
- more nature‑play elements to encourage exploration and imaginative play
- easy access from the shared path, with clear separation from dog‑walking and other activities.

Frequently asked questions
The existing playground will be upgraded and relocated to a shadier part of the Reserve.
During the first stage of consultation there was strong community support (+60%) for replacing the existing playground with one of similar size and structure.
The play space will include:
- a basket swing suitable for all ages and abilities
- a small area for nature-play
- combination play equipment piece with toddler slide.
No car parking spaces will be lost as part of this upgrade.
We're retaining all large trees, where possible.
All existing trees have been arborist and climate assessed, and all mature trees worthy of retention have been carefully designed around to ensure that they are protected during construction.
There will be a net loss of 2 trees. But the new trees that are planted will be better quality and placed in more appropriate locations.
We're proposed that 9 new trees be planted. Of the 11 tree removals, all trees are either in poor condition or were planted within last 10 years.
Charles Evans Reserve will remain as ‘dog-on-lead’ park
We are providing greater separation – including informal fencing – between the lawn area and children’s play equipment to reduce unplanned interactions between dogs and children.
We are providing a BBQ, drinking fountain, bins and more seats and picnic tables, including a variety of sizes to cater for different size groups.
We are working with Transurban (who manages the sound wall) to see how we can make it visually more appealing, as well as improving the planting.
