Upgraded Charles Evans Reserve opens with play, sport and dog friendly spaces

The upgraded Charles Evans Reserve was unveiled over the weekend with new equipment and spaces to support more inclusive and diverse activities from children's play to dog walking.

City of Yarra Councillor, Andrew Davies, who represents Lennox Ward (Cremorne and Central Richmond) says the upgraded reserve is a long-time coming for Cremorne residents.  

"Our community told us they need more spaces for children to play in, more spaces to play sport, more spaces for our pet pals, and a place to relax in the warmer months," he says.  

"This is a beautiful upgrade to an existing park and I'm proud of what we've achieved, but with less than 1% of open space, Cremorne desperately needs more new outdoor spaces for our local community to enjoy. Hopefully, this is just the beginning." 

The upgraded reserve includes: 

• new playground with climbing equipment and a slide for young children 

• a standard swing and a basket swing that can be used by children of different ages and abilities 

• more nature-based play features to encourage children to explore and use their imagination, and a 

• shared path, with the play area separated from people walking dogs and other activities.
