Heritage studies
Information from heritage studies have informed the heritage plans for Yarra.
Overview
When the council amalgamations occurred in the 1990s, the newly formed Yarra City Council committed to providing a consistent approach to heritage across the municipality.
Part of this commitment included reviewing heritage studies undertaken previously and updating the heritage overlay accordingly.
Since then, there have been a number of heritage studies done to identify additional areas in Yarra worthy of heritage protection.
You can see the heritage timeline below.
Often these heritage studies are included as background or incorporated documents in the Yarra planning scheme.
