Overview
Our population is growing. In 2021, more than 90,100 residents lived in Yarra and on average, two people lived in each home. By 2041, our population is forecast to have grown to more than 149,000 people.

Why we need a housing strategy
As more people choose to call Yarra home, housing growth needs to be planned and managed in a way that maintains the city's key characteristics and liveability. We want to create:
- more affordable housing
- more housing choice and diversity
- well-designed communal spaces
