Community Infrastructure Planning
Yarra's population is growing and the needs and preferences for our services are changing.
Flexible, well-located and maintained community infrastructure is a priority for Council.
Community Infrastructure planning supports the following community services; children's services, family services, youth services, senior’s services, leisure & recreation services, libraries, neighbourhood houses, creative and cultural services, community venues, public toilets and change facilities and property for community uses.
Assets that support these services include buildings and structures, and open space used for active recreation / sports participation.
Public open space for passive uses as well as transport infrastructure are not covered by the Plan as the strategic direction for these functions are addressed by the Open Space Strategy 2020 and Moving Forward: Yarra's Transport Strategy 2022-32 respectively.
The Community Infrastructure Plan is closely linked to the 10-year Asset plan which describes how council will manage its assets throughout their lifecycle in a financially sustainable manner. Both Plans were developed simultaneously and have been informed by the community engagement process for the Council Plan 2025-29.
