Council services: Christmas and holiday opening hours 2025

Over the upcoming Christmas and New Year period, some Yarra City Council services will have adjusted hours or closures.

We wish everyone a happy and safe festive season and New Year. Please see our holiday opening hours below.

Customer service centres

Our customer service centres at Richmond Town Hall and Collingwood Town Hall will be closed on all public holidays:

Call centres and reception sites will close at 2pm on Wednesday 24 December (Christmas Eve).

Bin collections will be delayed by one day for residents whose bins are collected on a Thursday or a Friday.

Zone 7 and Zone 8: Instead of Thursday 25 December, your bins will be collected on Friday 26 December.
Zone 9 and Zone 10: Instead of Friday 26 December, your bins will be collected on Saturday 27 December.

The drop-off recycling centre at 168 Roseneath Street, Clifton Hill will be closed on:

Wednesday 24 December (Christmas Eve)
Leisure centres: 6am to 2pm
Burnley Golf Course: 6.30am to 2pm (last tee time 12pm midday)
Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day): Closed
Friday 26 December (Boxing Day)
Leisure centres: 8am to 6pm
Burnley Golf Course: 8am to 6pm (last tee time 4pm)
Wednesday 31 December (New Year’s Eve)
Leisure centres: 6am to 2pm
Burnley Golf Course: 6.30am to 2pm (last tee time 12pm midday)
Thursday 1 January (New Year’s Day)
Leisure centres: 12pm midday to 6pm
Burnley Golf Course: 12pm midday to 6pm (last tee time 4pm)
Collingwood Estate Gym: Closed from Thursday 18 December until Monday 12 January 2026.

All branches are open 10am to 2pm
Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) and Friday 26 December (Boxing Day)
Closed (Open Library access available at all branches except Fitzroy Library)
Saturday 27 December
Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy, Carlton, Fitzroy and Richmond Libraries: open 10am to 4pm
Collingwood Library: open 10am to 1pm
Sunday 28 December
Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy, Carlton, Fitzroy and Richmond Libraries: open 2pm to 5pm
Collingwood Library: Closed
Monday 29 December to Wednesday 31 December
All branches: 10am to 5pm
Thursday 1 January (New Year’s Day)
Closed (Open Library access available at all branches except Fitzroy Library)
Friday 2 January
All branches return to regular hours: open 10am to 6pm

Our last market for 2025 is 20 December. Our first market for 2026 is back on 10 January.
