All about the Community Awards Committee, its members and its work to recommend recipients of the Yarra Community Awards.

The Yarra Community Awards Selection Panel judge the nominations for our annual Community Awards - a key initiative of our vision to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the everyday heroes who make Yarra such a wonderful place to live, work and visit.
 
Panel members are representatives who reflect Yarra’s diversity and have a strong connection to the City of Yarra.

The Community Awards Committee selects the people who should win Yarra City Council’s:

  • Citizen of the Year Award
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award
  • Community Initiative of the Year Award

This committee:

  • agrees on the judging criteria in each award category
  • assesses the nominations
  • selects a winner in each category
  • sends its recommendations to Yarra City Council’s Chief Executive Officer
