Electric bikes are a great way to encourage more people in Yarra to use our extensive network of on-road and off-road bike routes.
Electric bikes (e-bikes) are an increasingly popular mode of transport globally. E-bikes can make it easier for people to travel longer distances, carry heavier loads and can support people later in life to continue to cycle.
Like all bike riders. E-bike riders must:
comply with Victorian road rules
wear helmets at all times
respect other road users
We encourage all people on bikes, including e-bikes, to use the extensive network of on-road and off-road bike routes throughout the municipality. Check out the Yarra Travelsmart map [ PDF, 11.13 MB] .

Lime e-bikes are designed to reach speeds of 25 kilometres per hour, with power-assisted pedalling. This is in accordance with Australian Standards and the Victorian road rules.
Like all bike riders, e-bike riders must wear a helmet. A helmet is supplied with each e-bike. You can secure the helmet to the bike using its built-in cable-lock, to avoid theft or loss.
Lime requires riders provide end-trip photos to ensure best parking behaviors and use the latest GPS technology to ensure bikes are concentrated in areas with the most demand.
Riders will receive warnings and can be charged or receive a ban on their Lime account for poor parking behaviours.
