Yarra City Council releases its Quarterly Community Report for Quarter 3

Yarra City Council has advanced several major initiatives this quarter, from tackling loneliness to delivering new cultural landmarks and securing key advocacy wins.  

Quarter 3 highlights at a glance 

Living in the City 

• Launched targeted research into loneliness and social isolation in Yarra, incorporating lived‑experience insights and mapping local connection programs 

• Finalised the new Community Food Guide, informed by detailed mapping of food initiatives and direct engagement with local providers 

Working and Playing in the City 

• Progressed the Vietnamese Commemorative Marker celebrating 50 years of Vietnamese settlement in Richmond and Abbotsford 

• Council endorsed Mythical Crane Boat by Van Phu Le, with formal engagement underway and artwork launching in June 

Running the City 

• Continued strong advocacy under the Advocacy Roadmap 2025–29 [ PDF, 2.46 MB] , focusing on free primary health care access, VicHealth’s independence and State Government cost‑shifting.

• Victoria’s Pride Street Party confirmed to remain in Fitzroy beyond 2026 (subject to State Government re‑election).

• Secured Victorian Government grants for Clifton Hill park upgrades and Victoria Street business revitalisation.

• Delivered 52.71% of the capital works program by end of Q3 - $20.30m invested in community assets and infrastructure. 

• Approved $1.15m in mid‑year reallocations for priority projects including soil remediation, playground upgrades, cycling infrastructure, drainage and building renewal.

• Multiple projects received external funding from the Victorian Government, TAC and VSBA, strengthening financial capacity and reducing pressure on ratepayers.
