Council welcomes the Victorian Government announcement it will continue to fund two of Yarra’s most important community and business support services in North Richmond.

This is a direct result of months of hard work and advocacy by Council.

The announcement comes as a part of the Victorian Budget 2025/26, and includes:

  • The Richmond Youth Hub, which has been allocated $314,000 for financial year 2025/26

  • The Learning Bank, which has been allocated $165,000 for financial year 2025/26

Located at 110 Elizabeth Street in Richmond, the Richmond Youth Hub provides empowering opportunities for youth leadership, creativity and social connection in the heart of North Richmond.

The need for a dedicated youth space on the estate was brought to Council’s attention by young people asking for a safe space to go after school. Hundreds of young people are using the Hub.

The Learning Bank is Yarra’s other community and business service in North Richmond. The Learning Bank has become a fixture on Victoria Street, driving local economic revitalisation, inclusion and community learning. Young business owners are being supported, with many starting their first business enterprise. Young people are being supported to enter the workforce for the first time, and local businesses are partnering with Yarra to provide on the job training and continuing employment.

“We are thrilled that the Victorian Government sees the value in investing in these vital community services,” said City of Yarra Mayor, Stephen Jolly.

“Through the Richmond Youth Hub and the Learning Bank, we are ensuring that residents of all ages are supported to achieve their full potential. This funding will ensure that our community is supported as it continues to grow.”
