New play equipment at Cambridge Street Reserve
09 Dec 2024

We’re getting ready to install new play equipment and undertake upgrades at Cambridge Street Reserve in early 2025.

Based on community feedback earlier this year, Council resolved to install some additional play items at Cambridge Street Reserve in Collingwood.

The preliminary assessment for the environmental audit has now been completed, and officers can now proceed with the works.

There will be a range of new equipment and upgrades including:

  • A new slide suitable for young children
  • A new four way rocker
  • A new mini trampoline
  • New accessible and colourful rubber surface under the existing swing
  • Asphalting of some of the pathways
  • New playful line marking
  • New nature play elements through the garden

As previously communicated, to make room for the new equipment we need to remove the chin up bar, relocate the balance beam and two trees.

Council also resolved to investigate a suitable location to include a 4 square line marking space that meets safety standards and is not located adjacent to or within accessible pathways, steps, and roadways.

Due to spatial constraints, access pathways and traffic conditions, a safe location large enough for a workable four-square court could not be identified within the existing hardstand surfaces.

However, we will be increasing the intensity and range of the colour components of the new playground equipment to create a colourful play park environment.
