Join the Seniors and Sprouts program
Seniors aged 65+ are invited to join our 7-week program with local kindergartners.
We’re inviting Yarra residents aged 65+ to take part in the Seniors and Sprouts program. This intergenerational activity connects senior community members with 4-year-old kindergarten children for shared learning and connection.
What?
Each week, participating seniors will join a local kinder class for an hour of guided interaction over 7 weeks in term 4 each year.
Why get involved?
Research shows that programs like Seniors and Sprouts can bring real benefits for both children and older adults.
For children: greater empathy, improved social skills, and respect for older generations.
For seniors: improved quality of life, reduced isolation, and enhanced wellbeing and cognitive function.
Requirements
- Must have a Working with Children Check (free for volunteers)
- Attend an information session
