Councillor Stephen Jolly was elected Mayor of Yarra City Council on November 19, 2024.

Mayor Jolly currently represents the MacKillop Ward, which includes all of Fitzroy. The Mayor was first elected to Yarra City Council in 2004, and has lived in Yarra for 32 years.

Over the next year as Mayor and four years as Councillor, Councillor Jolly will refocus the Council to ensure Council’s priorities reflect the aspirations of the broader community.

These priorities include:
  • Ensure new housing in area includes apartments for low paid locals.
  • Healthy finances so we can expand services, infrastructure, and green open spaces for a growing population.
  • Enhancing democracy and listening closely to the Yarra community
