The goal: a city that welcomes everyone
The Rainbow Advisory Committee helps us make the City of Yarra a better place to live and work for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+). The committee advises us on how to communicate and engage with LGBTIQA+ people on issues that affect them.

The Rainbow Advisory Committee:
- advises us on how we can put the Yarra LGBTIQA+ Strategy 2021-2024 [ PDF, 16.64 MB] Â and related strategies into action
- gives feedback on Yarra City Council’s policies, plans and services that impact LGBTIQA+ people
- tells us about matters affecting the needs, interests and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people
- advises us on how to communicate, engage and consult with LGBTIQA+ people
- helps us reach out and talk to LGBTIQA+ communities
- helps us share information more easily between LGBTIQA+ people, Yarra City Council and other organisations
attends Yarra LGBTIQA+ community events where possible

The Rainbow Advisory Committee also includes up to 14 local LGBTIQA+ people, including:
- at least two people from organisations supporting the City of Yarra’s LGBTIQA+ community
- at least two people from the City of Yarra’s LGBTIQA+ business community
