The goal: a city that's accessible for all
The Disability Advisory Committee helps us to improve the wellbeing of people with disability and their carers. It reminds us to consider the needs of people with disability in all our Council decisions, so that programs and services in the City of Yarra are accessible for everyone.

The Disability Advisory Committee may advise us on:
- forums to discuss current affairs that may affect the wellbeing of people with disability and their carers
- any government or business plans to improve access and inclusion
- local community development
- building and infrastructure works
- disability advocacy
- how to improve Yarra City Council's access and inclusion policy
- how to improve Yarra City Council's general plans, strategies and policies
- how to make Yarra City Council's services, programs and events more accessible and inclusive
- how to make our community more welcoming for people with disability

Community members
The Disability Advisory Committee also includes 12 community members with lived experience, including people with disability, their families and carers. Community members are chosen to represent a wide range of perspectives on access and inclusion.
