Access the library outside of ordinary service hours, currently available at four locations.

Wish you could spend more time at the library?

By becoming an Open Library member, you can access un-serviced hours at four locations every day of the week, including public holidays. You'll also have access to wi-fi, public PCs, study spaces, and print and copy services.

Carlton Library
Located in Carlton North, across from Curtain Square, Carlton Library is a welcoming space that hosts regular after-hours events, and is home to a community seed library.
Collingwood Library
Located in Abbotsford next to the Collingwood train station and opposite the Collingwood Town Hall on Hoddle Street, Collingwood Library has study areas and a dedicated children's level, making it ideal for all ages.
Richmond Library
Conveniently located on the corner of Church and Charlotte streets, Richmond Library has an extensive local history collection, dedicated children's area and ample study space for students, making it ideal for all ages.
How to join the Open Library program

    Register on Eventbrite

    Visit our Open Library Eventbrite page 
    and book in for an induction at your preferred branch.

    Attend an Induction

    Remember to bring your library card, 
    photo ID and proof of address.

    Upgrade your Membership

    Our library team will upgrade your library membership so you can access 
    the branch during un-serviced hours.

This project was developed in response to public feedback, and inspired by European libraries which offer 24/7 access.
