Department of Transport have the authority to tow vehicles away that are parked in clearway towaway zones.

If you believe your vehicle has been towed, you can enter your registration details to check Nationwide Towing & Transport's records.
Collecting your impounded vehicle from a clearway
Your vehicle can be collected within 7 days. Your vehicle will be returned to you if you have proof of identification (such as your driver licence) and once payment of the towing fee has been made.
If you have not collected your vehicle after 7 days, your vehicle will be treated as an abandoned or unregistered vehicle.
Fees
- Impounding fee $478.40
The impounding fee of $478.40 is payable directly to Nationwide Towing if your vehicle is collected within 24 hours.
If your vehicle is collected after 48 hours, additional storage fees will be charged. Please note that a 2.5% surcharge applies to credit card payments.
It should be noted that Department of Transport is responsible for issuance of infringements for offences on clearways. Council does not have jurisdiction on this matter.
Towing and impounding of unregistered vehicles and or abandoned vehicles
If you believe there is an abandoned vehicle in your street you need to call us on 9205 5555. Following your call we will come and inspect the vehicle.
In most circumstances, when vehicles are thought to be abandoned or unregistered, a warning notice is put on the vehicle prior to removing it. If there is a risk to public safety, the vehicle may be removed immediately.
Unregistered or abandoned vehicles not collected within 30 days may be disposed of by us.

If your vehicle is taken to Nationwide Towing & Transport, you will be required to pay a fee of $478.40 fee (including GST).
You will need to provide proof of ownership of the vehicle.
