Three Pianists, One Tenor and You

This is a free community event, simply register your attendance below

Local performers David Hood, and mother and son duo Mitchell and Judy Chipman provide an afternoon of classics from Chopin to Gershwin, supported by stunning operatic vocals from Anish Nair. 

There's nothing like some music to lift the spirit and soul. Something we could all use a bit of in these challenging times. St Stephen's Church provides the perfect setting for you to be carried away in an acoustic embrace.

Willowview Centre

6 Eddy Court, Abbotsford. 

10am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday

Willowview Centre runs weekly group programs and activities for Yarra residents over 65. Willowview run a different program or activity each day, including:

  • Chair yoga
  • Exercise sessions
  • Card games
  • Crafts
  • Cooking
  • Community lunches.

To join in Willowview's programs, you'll need to register through My Aged Care on 1800 200 422, to arrange as assessment and referral to the centre.

Senior's Hubs

Residents of Yarra aged 50-years and over are welcome at our Senior's Hubs (formerly Seniors Citizens Centres), to take part in a range of activities and make social connections.

Transport to and from the hubs is available, please contact Yarra Aged Services on 9205 5285 to discuss further.

Our Seniors Hubs are places to meet new friends, participate in activities of interest and learn new skills.  Check out our current regular Seniors Hubs activities below:

Collingwood Seniors Hub

4 Eddy Court, Collingwood.

Exercise Class

Tuesdays 11am to 12pm

Our exercise classes focus on exercising and moving the body through a range of stretching, resistance and muscle activation techniques. Our instructor takes the group through a number of exercises accompanied to music to get you moving and help improve strength and mobility.

Biodiversity Arts Team (BATs)

10am to 2.30pm Wednesdays

Come and join the Biodiversity Arts Team (BATs) group and help install a ceramic mural in Yarra. The group meets weekly and take part in a range of art and wellbeing activities. The program is for Yarra residents aged 65+ and you can register through My Aged Care.

Community Lunches 

Community lunches are available at Collingwood, where residents can enjoy an affordable meal and good company.

Richmond Seniors Hub

1 Hosie Street, Richmond.

Exercise Class

10.30am to 11.30am Thursdays

Our exercise classes focus on exercising and moving the body through a range of stretching, resistance and muscle activation techniques. Our instructor takes the group through a number of exercises accompanied to music to get you moving and help improve strength and mobility.

Art Class 

12pm to 2pm Thursdays

The art group work on individual projects, with ideas and inspiration enhanced by a regular facilitator. The afternoon is full of chatting and laughter, and supplies are provided.  Participants can bring their lunch if they wish to and enjoy as the creative juices being to flow.

We're always looking for new activities to engage our over 50 residents, like Tai Chi, dancing and anything else that may be of interest. If you host a particular activity, or are interested in attending one, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Community Engagement Officer on 9205 5439.

Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library

Located at 182 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North.

Some of Yarra's cultural groups meet in the community rooms at our new library.

The Yugoslavian, Serbian and Greek groups meet on different days of the week for social activities and to prepare a meal and eat together.

There is a range of social and recreational groups in Yarra that cater for the needs and interests of residents aged fifty and over. These groups offer a variety of activities, ranging from arts and craft to gentle exercise.

LGBTI Elders Dance Club

All lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) elders and their allies are invited to Fitzroy Town Hall for a free social dance club to learn new dance moves, enjoy delicious catering and drinks, and socialise with other LGBTI elders and allies!

Yarra Men's Shed

Yarra Men's Shed welcomes both men and women of any age and from all cultural backgrounds, to meet and work on projects at their own pace.  Members have the opportunity to become involved in 2 or 3 community projects a term and have access to a woodwork shed.

Woodwork, gardening and participating in community projects are just some of the activities enjoyed by people who attend Yarra Men’s Shed.

Yarra Men’s Shed is located in Hoddle Street, next door to Collingwood Neighbourhood House and operates from Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 1pm.
