What makes the City of Yarra unique?

Melbourne is currently experiencing exponential growth. This poses enormous challenges for all areas. But the City of Yarra with its inner-city location and diverse population is particularly affected.

We have heritage buildings, boulevards and laneways. We have parks, viewpoints and shopping strips girdled by the Yarra River. All this makes the City of Yarra an attractive and interesting place for tourists, businesses and residents. We want to keep it that way.

The Urban Design Strategy is our guide for planners, designers and decision-makers to help improve the City of Yarra's urban design in a dynamic, ever-changing urban environment. It sets out our vision for the future and lists the steps we will take to maintain our city's social, environmental and economic wellbeing.
