COVID-19 lockdown ending at 70% vaccination

From 11:59pm on Thursday 21 October, the COVID-19 lockdown across metropolitan Melbourne (including the City of Yarra) will end.

Following the Premier's announcement yesterday, the six reasons to leave home will be lifted and restrictions will be eased carefully.

This news comes as Victoria reaches it’s 70% double dose target for the COVID-19 vaccine.

What’s changing?

Curfew and travel limit

  • The curfew and 15km travel limit across metropolitan Melbourne will be lifted.
  • Travel to regional Victoria is not allowed for individuals from metropolitan Melbourne.

Social gatherings

  • Up to 15 people can gather outdoors from any number of households (infants under 12 months aren’t included in this cap).
  • Up to 10 people can visit your home per day from any number of households (infants under 12 months aren’t included in this cap).

Schools

  • All students will return to on-site learning at least part time.

Venues

  • Pubs and clubs can open to 20 fully vaccinated people indoors and 50 outdoors.
  • Entertainment venues can open to 50 fully vaccinated people outdoors

Restrictions still in place

Masks

  • Masks will still be required indoors and outdoors unless you have an exemption.
