You asked, we listened! We've extended the nominations period for our Community Awards for one more week.

You now have until 5pm Sunday 19 September to submit your nominations. If you've been thinking "must get around to putting that nomination in"? Now is the time. Don't miss your chance to nominate an everyday hero!

Do you know an individual or group who deserve to be recognised for their outstanding contributions to the Yarra community? Whether they’re loud and proud or quiet achievers, we want to celebrate them.

Nominating takes less than 10 minutes and could be life changing for an everyday hero.

What are the categories?

Our 2021 award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Initiative of the Year
  • Contributions to Arts
  • Contributions to Sport
  • Contributions to Heritage
  • Contributions to Diversity and Inclusion
  • Community Spirit

This year we’ve added a special category for Community Spirit, to recognise the individuals and groups who have supported community recovery and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What are the prizes?

A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to each winner of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Initiative of the Year.

A cash prize of $250 will be awarded to the winners in each of the remaining categories.

How do I nominate?

Nominating is easy! Fill in the online form – it takes less than 10 minutes and could be life changing for an everyday hero.
