Creating more green space where it's needed most

We're transforming part of Mater Street and a recently acquired parcel of land (the former Salvation Army site) into a new pocket park, creating a welcoming green space for residents, workers and visitors right in the heart of Collingwood.

With limited open space in Collingwood and a growing population, the project will convert underutilised road reserve and vacant land into a vibrant community space with new trees, landscaping, seating, barbeque and shelter and opportunities to play, socialise and relax.

The pocket park will include:

  • a recreational play frame and scooter track
  • seating, picnic tables & a BBQ area with shelter
  • increased shade and lawn areas
  • tree planting and garden beds
  • bike racks and bike repair station.

The new park will also contribute to urban cooling, increased tree canopy and a more climate-resilient Collingwood.
