Business parking permits
Businesses operating from a commercial property in Yarra with no off-street parking may be eligible for a business parking permit.
We issue business parking permits with conditions. Businesses are not eligible for:
- visitor parking permits
- permits for vehicles more than 4.5 tonnes in gross weight
- permits for vehicles 7.5 metres or more in length.

Who can apply?
To be eligible for a business parking permit, your business must:
- operate from an eligible commercial property in Yarra
- have no off-street parking*.
*Includes properties with reduced off-street parking - for example, using a car space for another purpose such as storage.
Your property is not eligible if it has a driveway access point, whether in use or not.
Number of allowed permits
The number of permits issued to your business depends on the length of the street frontage.
The first business parking permit is available when the business address has a frontage of at least 10m except at a retail premises where at least 5m applies.
(Retail premises are defined as shops within designated shopping strips and paid parking areas)
What documents to include
We will require supporting documentation as part of your application to be able to issue you a permit if the property is eligible.
Below is a list of the documents to include in your application online.
You must provide your business certificate when you apply.
You must provide one of the following documents with your application:
- Current commercial lease (must be signed and in business name)
- Rates notice (must be in business name)
- Recent utility invoice (issued in last 3 months, must be in business name).

You will need to search your address to ensure you are eligible for parking permits.
Fees
Fees are valid to 30 June 2026 and exempt from GST.
- 1st permit $157
- 2nd permit $291
- Additional permits $291
How to pay
An invoice will be emailed to you, once your application has been approved.
In person
Pay in person at one of our customer service centres between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Receiving your permit
After we've approved your application and received payment, we'll post the permit to the address on the application. It should arrive within 5 to 10 business days.
Renew your permit
Parking permits expire after 12 months. We will send you a renewal notice 4 to 6 weeks before your permit expires.
If your address and vehicle details are the same and your permit hasn't expired, you can pay using the available options on your renewal notice.

If you need a permit on the spot, visit one of our customer service centres and make sure you bring all required documents.
Replace your business parking permit
Note: This is only for business parking permits - if you wish to replace a residential parking permit, please visit the residential and visitor permits page.
We can replace your permit for a fee of $56.
If your permit was stolen and you can provide a police report, there will be no fee.
We will not replace non-registration specific permits such as business various permits. You will need to cancel the permit and reapply.
