Yarra Libraries to extend opening hours to help you beat the heat
Yarra Libraries is extending its hours on Thursday 8 January and Friday 9 January 2026 until 10pm to provide a cool, comfortable space for our community.
With a heatwave on the way this week, Yarra Libraries is extending its hours on Thursday 8 January and Friday 9 January 2026 until 10pm to provide a cool, comfortable space for our community. The following locations will be open with extended hours:
Richmond Library
415 Church Street, Richmond
Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library
182 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North
From 1 December through to 31 March, Yarra City Council is activating designated Cool Spaces during severe and extreme heatwaves, as defined and declared by the Bureau of Meteorology, provided there is sufficient warning. To stay cool, consider heading to a Cool Space early in the morning and avoid travelling during the hottest part of the day.
