Smith Reserve construction update

The delay has been caused by the need to change contractors late in the construction program.  

This change in contractors will delay the supply of power to the BBQ and park lighting. A new electrical contractor has been appointed, the final electrical equipment has been procured and we’re waiting on the electrical retailer and the electrical distributor to connect the power.  

We are calling these companies every two days and have escalated our complaints to senior people within those companies. We’re hopeful the wait won’t be much longer.

Council also has plans for the following works in this precinct:

• Restoring lighting to the pathway between Smith Reserve and the Fitzroy Swimming Pool.
• Further garden bed planting adjacent to the Fitzroy Swimming Pool pavilion.
• We’re monitoring the condition of the turf in Smith Reserve and if it holds water over the winter, we’ll install drainage to the area. 
• We’re laying instant turf to the area around the toddlers’ pool inside the Fitzroy Swimming Pool.
