New baskets make recycling easier across Yarra

Residents and visitors to Yarra will now find it easier to recycle on the go, thanks to the installation of 20 new baskets attached to key outdoor bins across the city. 

The baskets are currently being installed and will collect cans, bottles and cartons, helping keep recyclables out of landfill while giving people the chance to earn 10 cents back for every eligible item returned.

The initiative has rolled out across popular community spots including:

• Burnley Park, Richmond

• Curtain Square, Carlton North

• Cambridge Reserve, Collingwood

• Victoria Park, Abbotsford

• Barkly Gardens, Richmond

• Citizens Park, Richmond

• Atherton Gardens, Fitzroy 

• Edinburgh Gardens, Fitzroy North

• Fairfield Park, Fairfield 

The baskets are a simple way to encourage recycling and make it easier for everyone to do their bit for the environment.
