Construction has started on the Charles Evans Reserve play space
Improved play facilities, improved accessibility and more open space is a step closer at Charles Evans Reserve in Cremorne, with the commencement of works.
Upgrades to the playground include a brand-new play equipment combination unit with toddler slide, and a basket swing, suitable for different ages and abilities. There are also more nature-play options for young minds to explore and discover.
The play equipment will be easily accessible from the shared path while being separated from dog walking and other activities.
Mayor Stephen Jolly said the Cremorne area has less than one per cent of open space, the lowest in Yarra.
“Cremorne is crying out for more open space.”
“The community have asked for better playgrounds, more spaces for dog walking and more open spaces to gather in – and we listened.”
“We’re also expanding the park into Cubitt Street to create a new multi-sport area for sports such as basketball, soccer, four-square and a rebound wall,” he says.
The works will be complete in May pending weather conditions.
