Citizenship ceremonies are a celebration, with each person having their own story and reasons for becoming an Australian citizen.

Please dress in whatever way you feel most comfortable and reflects what the day means to you. You are very welcome to wear traditional, cultural and/or national dress.

Invitations to citizenship ceremonies are sent by the Department of Home Affairs (not Yarra City Council). You will most likely be invited to the next ceremony after your citizenship is approved, but this cannot be guaranteed.

While Yarra City Council are unable to influence which ceremony you are invited to, we work hard to reduce your waiting time by hosting frequent ceremonies, avoiding school holidays and public holiday weekends as much as possible.
