The goal: a city that is managed well
The Chief Executive Officer Employment and Remuneration Committee helps us to make sure that Yarra City Council is run by a capable chief executive officer (CEO) who has an incentive to perform well.
Minutes of meetings of the CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee contain information that is confidential under section 3 of the Local Government Act 2020. They are not available for download.
The Chief Executive Officer Employment and Remuneration Committee:
- helps Yarra City Council set key performance indicators to assess what the CEO achieves each year
- checks how the CEO’s performance fares against these indicators
- writes a yearly report about the CEO’s performance
- reviews the CEO’s salary package and terms of employment
- tells Yarra City Council if anything should change in the CEO’s employment
When hiring a new CEO, the committee can:
- liaise with an executive search consultant
- set up and manage the recruitment process
- shortlist and recommend preferred candidates
- give advice on salary and terms of employment
- prepare role-related documents, including Council reports and contracts
All Councillors are members of the CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee.
