Help refurbish Alphington Bowls Club
Help the Club become a community magnet as Alphington grows.
Secure $3.7 million from the Victorian Government to upgrade Alphington Bowls Club. An upgraded Alphington Bowls Club will become an exciting community hub for all ages and abilities in this growing precinct.
Alphington Bowls Club (the Club) is more than a bowls club. It’s one of the most well used community venues in the inner North and serves its community in so many ways.
10,000 people go through its doors every year.
It hosts competitive bowls, barefoot bowls, school activities and an all-abilities program.
It’s become a venue for many community events, concerts, wellbeing programs and local meetings.
It’s a social and recreational magnet for community of all ages and abilities.
Alphington is growing and becoming more diverse.
The Club has the potential to broaden its reach and grow its service to the community. But the building is tired, it doesn’t meet modern accessibility standards, and the internal space is restrictive.
Upgrading the building would enable the Club to offer so much more to the community.
And at a time when social isolation and loneliness has become one of the most important health and wellbeing issues in Australia. Places that create social connections are vital to community wellbeing.
The initial feasibility and concept design has identified costs of $3.7 million. We need a significant contribution from the Victorian Government to make this happen.
The time for investment is now. Council cannot do this alone. This is an opportunity for the Victorian Government to partner with Council and the Club to produce the best possible outcomes for the growing Alphington community and surrounds.
