Community training

Sharpen your skills by joining our free community training program.

We run different sessions throughout the year to support not-for-profit and community organisations in Yarra to run as effectively as possible.

If you are involved in a local community organisation, the sessions are a great chance to get information about applying for grants, and managing relationships, projects and media strategies.

The program is aimed at:

  • community leaders, managers, coordinators or volunteers
  • members of management committees
  • people considering joining the management committee of a not-for-profit organisation.

All training sessions are free however bookings are essential.

Please note: our training program is funded to assist organisations, not-for-profit groups and clubs that are based in Yarra or service the Yarra community and will therefore be prioritised.

Community training: Chairing effective meetings
This workshop is focussed on the role of Chair. It breaks down what it takes to be an effective Chair and workshops how a Chair can positively influence culture and lead a high performing team.

An interactive session will provide a basic overview of the most popular social media platforms used in Australia and insights on the best way they can be used effectively.

Community training: Targeted Recruitment & Engaging Young People
This short session focuses on discussion-based scenarios, but also draws from the Volunteering Victoria Youth Ready Guide and Assessment to examine strategies specifically to engage young people.

Community training: Evaluating projects and programs
This session will provide participants with the tools to help decide how to conduct program evaluation and articulate to funders the impact the project has had on the community.
