Sunday 07 April 2024

Join the global effort to raise awareness about autism and enjoy spectacular, stereotype-upending performances by BoilOver Performance Ensemble, 5ANGRYMen Theatre Company and Melbourne indie rockers Rudely Interrupted.

World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is celebrated every year on  2 April. It aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism and others living with autism face every day. This year's theme seeks to upend stereotypes of autistic individuals.

Join us for an afternoon of free performances to celebrate and acknowledge WAAD in Yarra.

The Birds: roaming physical theatre event
Starting at 1.30pm.

The Birds is a special and visually stunning outdoor roaming physical theatre event set against the stunning backdrop of the Edinburgh Gardens. This work responds to the very human experiences of searching for freedom from the cages we find ourselves in. During this 60-minute performance, you will roam the Edinburgh Gardens birdwatching and listening as the performers appear and reappear, joyfully flock and disperse guiding you on their migration to the gardens Rotunda for a performance finale.
