Translating Ambiance is a group exhibition at Yarra Sculpture Gallery, curated by Dr Jordan Lacey.

Artists include Polly Stanton/Byron Dean, Bruce Mowson, Martin Kay, Camilla Hannan, Jordan Lacey/remi freer, Salomé Voegelin/Lisa Hall, Michael Graeve, Andrew Goodman and Catherine Clover.

The artists in this exhibition have been asked to respond to the research theme in relationship to their own practices.

Translating Ambiance forms part of Dr Jordan Lacey's DECRA (Discovery Early Career Researcher Award) project, specifically focusing on how the environmental ambience of wilderness areas can be translated into urban spaces. This is in keeping with the Australian Government's Environmental Change and Urban resilience research priority area.

Jordan is a Research Fellow working across RMIT's School of Design and School of Art. His interest is in the interface of sonic arts and urban design, investigating the role of sound installations in the development of creative cites and improved social health and well being.
