Metropolitan Transport Forum

Thursday 02 August 2018

Come along and discuss transport issues in Yarra before the State election in November at this free public forum on Thursday 2 August from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Richmond Town Hall.

We will be hosting the forum that will be presented by the Metropolitan Transport Forum and Leader Newspapers. The Metropolitan Transport Forum (MTF) is an advocacy group comprising members from Melbourne metropolitan local government, associate members representing transport companies, and participants from the State Government and environment groups.

The Metropolitan Transport Forum (MTF) represents 25 Melbourne councils on transport issues and advocates for the needs of nearly 4 million residents.

You will meet the candidates from major parties, hear their policies and ask any questions you may have.

The chairperson will be our Mayor, Cr Daniel Nguyen and the speakers will include Richard Wynne (ALP, Member for Richmond), Kathleen Maltzahn (Greens) and David Davis (Liberal Party MP, shadow public transport spokesperson).

Topics for discussion may include:

  • Walmer Street Bridge replacement
  • Accessible tram stops in Richmond (Victoria St, Bridge Rd, Swan St)
  • Need for East-West public transport along Alexandra Parade
  • Cremorne congestion and access issues
  • Cycling corridors and cycling safety
  • North East Link project impacts

The forums are an opportunity for voters to hear about the transport plans of the candidates and ask questions about issues of concern.
