With Refugees: A panel discussion

Wednesday 20 June 2018

Celebrate Refugee Week at Richmond Town Hall on Wednesday 20 June from 6pm to 8pm by joining in conversation with expert refugee and asylum seeker advocates to discuss what Refugee Week means and how can we stand united.

Jana Favero (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre) will MC the event.

This years theme is 'with Refugees' which highlights the move to a more politicised position in 2018 for the recognition and rights of people who have and now seek refuge in Australia.

In the current political climate and broader Australian culture, we have asked panellists what does Refugee Week mean to them and how can we stand united?

The panellists are:

  • Mariam Issa (Author of A Resilient Life)
  • Fadak Alfayadh (Human Rights Advocate)
  • David Burke (Human Rights Law Centre)
  • Danijel Malbasa (Lawyer and Advocate).

cohealth have commissioned the artwork Our Shared Humanity which will feature 20 creative works by refugees and people seeking asylum. The works demonstrate the strength and capacity of refugee and asylum seeker communities.

The panel discussion will be located in the meeting rooms upstairs at Richmond Town Hall.

Refreshments will be available.
