We have a range of fun and rewarding programs available for young people in Yarra. No matter what your interests are, we've got you covered!

All of our programs are offered during school term times. We also run activities during our School Holiday Program, in each school holiday period.

Rising High

A free music program for young people in the music studio. Professional music producers will help you write your own lyrics and teach you production skills to lay down your own beats.

The Rising High studio has two vocal rooms, a band room and a production space.

Date & Time:

Mondays from 4pm to 7pm; and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm

DJ Skills

Mentored by dance music industry professional DJs and producers, you will learn the ins and outs of being a skilled and successful DJ, whether you are a beginner or more advanced.

This program is for female and gender diverse young people, aged 12 to 25 years.

Future Pathways Program

The Future Pathways Program helps young people apply for jobs, write CVs and cover letters, as well as search and apply for courses in tertiary education. 

The program is supported by staff from Yarra Libraries and volunteers.

Mondays & Wednesdays from 4pm – 7pm

Thursday Night Arts

An informal creative arts jam for young people aged 12 to 25. Young artists are encouraged to pursue personal projects in an open studio environment with their peers, or they can be guided through a class project. The program will be supported by expert facilitators and early career artists.

Includes fashion and textile design, illustration and zine making, painting, as well as making short films, video art and animation... It’s up to you – let your creative juices flow!

Artist in Residence

Our Artist in Residence program gives early-career artists (aged between 20 and 25 years) the opportunity to take up a shared residency in the studio space at the Yarra Youth Centre (156 Napier Street, Fitzroy), free of charge.

Fitzroy Drop In

Drop-in at the Yarra Youth Centre and hang out in a safe and inclusive environment.  We have a range of activities for young people, including pool, table tennis, PS4 and a multitude of card games and board games. 

Youth workers will be available to supervise, and young people can also help shape what activities are provided.

Richmond Drop In

Drop-in at the Richmond Youth Hub and hang out in a safe and inclusive environment.  We have a range of activities for young people, including Nintendo Switch.  Activities are also run outdoors during the week, including basketball with Helping Hoops and soccer with ACU. 

Youth workers will be available to supervise, and young people can also help shape what activities are provided.
