The street was voted the second coolest street in the world according to TimeOut in 2022.

Gertrude Street is well known for independent fashion labels and galleries, quality cafes, restaurants and bars, and art galleries.

Gertrude Street hosted the Victorian State Government's inaugural Pride street party in February 2022.
