The most wonderful time of the year – Christmas in Yarra

We hope you’ll join us for our Carols by Candlelight spectacular at Citizens Park on Thursday 7 December, from 6pm to 9pm. This free event will feature performances by school, community and national choir groups. There will also be a very special appearance from Santa, along with food and drink stalls. Candles and song books will be available for purchase, so warm up your vocal cords and bring a picnic blanket.

Get into the Christmas spirit with a visit to one of Yarra’s famous retail and dining precincts. From fashion and furniture to food and flowers, Yarra’s local shops will have everything you need in the lead-up to the big day. Festive wreaths will be installed throughout Yarra's retail precincts, on a mix of parking signs, replica lamps and tree guards. The festive sculptures from last year will also be making an appearance.

About our Christmas decorations

This year’s decorations program has been informed by valuable feedback from local residents and business owners. 

Christmas wreaths will be installed in the following areas:

·       Bridge Road

·       Brunswick Street

·       Gertrude Street

·       Nicholson Village

·       Queens Parade

·       Rathdowne Village

·       Smith Street (incl Johnston Street intersection)

·       Swan Street

·       Victoria Street

Larger wreaths will adorn the following properties:

·       Piedimonte's Corner in Fitzroy North Village

·       Entrance sign at corner of Punt Road and Bridge Road

·       Entrance sign at corner of Punt Road and Swan Street

·       Entrance sign at Church Street and Yarra River

·       Richmond Town Hall

Wooden street art tree sculptures will be installed at:

·       Mary Rogers Square, corner Bridge Road and Church Street

·       Piedimonte's Triangle in Fitzroy North Village
