Yarra City Council is seeking feedback on a Policy Guidance Note for Affordable Housing in Significant Redevelopments.

The Policy Note outlines Council’s expectations for developers in the City of Yarra to dedicate 5% of significant new developments to affordable housing. The Policy applies to rezoned sites when they are likely to yield around 50 dwellings or more.

Data has shown that housing affordable by low-to-moderate income households is dropping, with only a small number of rental options available to this demographic in the City of Yarra.

This Policy is one way that we can advocate for more affordable housing in Yarra, working towards our goal to maintain social and economic diversity within our community.
