Fristacky secures MAV Board position

04 March 2013

Yarra Mayor, Cr Jackie Fristacky has successfully contested the 2013 Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) board elections and will represent the metro central region for the next two years.

She secured 3 votes to win the position ahead of incumbent Cr Gaetano Greco (Darebin) (2 votes) who also nominated for the metro central region.

Cr Fristacky thanked her fellow delegates and said she was deeply honoured to represent the central metro regional interests and work closely with board colleagues to progress areas of immediate priority.

“Local councils are at a critical stage of planning for population growth and funding the services and infrastructure renewal required to support Victoria’s rapidly changing communities,” she said.

“Responsible planning development, public transport investment and sustainable funding are all priorities which require durable solutions and genuine collaboration with our state and federal colleagues,” concluded Cr Fristacky.

Only councillors who are formally appointed as their council’s MAV Representative can nominate as a candidate for the MAV Presidency and/or Board, and vote in the election.  This is the first MAV Board appointment for independent Cr Jackie Fristacky.

MAV delegates representing the 79 Victorian councils voted together to elect the12 regional MAV Board members. For the complete MAV election results please go to
