Breweries
Yarra is home to two breweries – the iconic CUB (Carlton Brewhouse) and the lesser known microbrewery, Mountain Goat Beer. Both offer behind the scenes tours and beer tasting for an educational and delicious insight in to the beer making process!
Carlton and United Brewery
Carlton and United Brewery in Abbotsford is one of the oldest working breweries in Australia. Producing over a dozen brands including Carlton Cold, VB and Foster’s Lager, the brewery is also the country’s largest.
Tours of the Carlton BrewHouse showcase the brewery's 100 year history of beer making, presenting the art of brewing in an innovative and entertaining way. Tours run at 10.00am and 2.00pm Monday – Friday.
Getting there:
Catch tram 109 along Victoria St and get off at stop number 22 (cnr McKay/Sth Audley and Victoria Sts). Once you exit the tram, head back one street to Thompson Street and walk 100m to the BrewHouse.

Mountain Goat Beer
Mountain Goat Beer began in the mid-nineties in the back yard of an ambitious home brewer. In 1997 the first official Mountain Goat beer hit the shelves. Now operating out of a converted warehouse in Richmond, Mountain Goat craft a handful of boutique beers as well as a few seasonal and one off brews.
Mountain Goat Brewery is open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.00pm, serving their unique beer and homemade pizzas. They run free brewery tours at 6.30pm every Wednesday.

Catch tram 48 (North Balwyn - Victoria Harbour via Collins Street) or 75 (East Burwood - City via Flinders Street) and get off at River Street, Richmond.
