Yarra is home to two breweries – the iconic CUB (Carlton Brewhouse) and the lesser known microbrewery, Mountain Goat Beer. Both offer behind the scenes tours and beer tasting for an educational and delicious insight in to the beer making process!

Carlton United Brewery Carlton and United Brewery 

Come behind the scenes, and explore the home of Australia’s famous beers – Carlton Draught, VB, Pure Blonde and more.

This fun and interactive tour takes you on a journey through Australia’s history of brewing, the process of producing your favourite beers, and a bird’s eye view into the brewery and bottling line. To finish the tour, enjoy some complementary ‘Brewery Fresh’ beer tastings at the Carlton BrewHouse.

Don’t have time for a tour? The Carlton BrewHouse Bar is open Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm, offering the freshest beer in town, ‘pub-style’ meals are also available between 11.30am and 3.30pm.

Looking for a unique venue? The Carlton BrewHouse is also offered for private hire on weeknights and weekends for social or corporate events and for large group tours.

Tours depart from the Carlton BrewHouse in Abbotsford, 4kms East of Melbourne’s CBD.  Jump on the 109 tram on Collins Street and take a 20 min tram ride (towards BoxHill), hop off at stop 22. The Carlton BrewHouse is a 2-3 min walk from stop 22.

Complimentary car parking is also available.

Getting there:

Catch tram 109 along Victoria St and get off at stop number 22 (cnr McKay/Sth Audley and Victoria Sts). Once you exit the tram, head back one street to Thompson Street and walk 100m to the BrewHouse.

Mountain Goat BeerMountain Goat Beer

Mountain Goat Beer began in the mid-nineties in the back yard of an ambitious home brewer. In 1997 the first official Mountain Goat beer hit the shelves. Now operating out of a converted warehouse in Richmond, Mountain Goat craft a handful of boutique beers as well as a few seasonal and one off brews.  

Mountain Goat Brewery is open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.00pm, serving their unique beer and homemade pizzas. They run free brewery tours at 6.30pm every Wednesday.

Getting there:

Catch tram 48 (North Balwyn - Victoria Harbour via Collins Street) or 75 (East Burwood - City via Flinders Street) and get off at River Street, Richmond.
