Yarra Libraries supports community-led book groups and encourages the use of the libraries book set resources to start or join your own book group.
Book groups are a great way to foster stimulating conversation, engage debate and create community connectedness.
Yarra Libraries supports community-led book groups by providing sets of books to borrow.
We offer a great list of titles for your book group to choose from, ranging from current bestsellers, to conversation-starters on hot topics, Australian and international authors, and well-loved literary classics.
This is a free service for all library members. There must be at least one person in your group who is a Yarra Libraries member, and all books in the set will be issued to that person's card.
To start a book group, you need to:
- 1
- 2
Choose your book
Select from over 100 titles
and receive a set of 10 copies
- 3
Pick up and return
Book sets can be collected and returned
to any of the five Yarra Libraries branches
Book sets can be issued for up to 6 weeks. We do not charge for overdue items, but as other groups will be waiting for titles, it's important that books are returned in a timely manner.
Looking to join an already existing group? We host a number of book clubs that are looking for new members! Meet at the library to collect your book, then return the following month for bookish chats, hot drinks and the next novel to take home.
