The Victorian Seniors Festival brings seniors across the state together to get active, try something new and sample what’s on offer in their local area. 

There are over 30 free and low-cost events across Yarra from 1 to 31 October.

There’s something for everyone in our local neighbourhood houses, community centres and libraries, including a range of social outings:

Olinda Rhododendron Gardens 
Monday 2 October 
10am to 3.30pm 
Departing from North Carlton Neighbourhood House – 20 Solly Avenue, Princes Hill 
Bus trip to the Olinda Rhododendron Gardens, and a visit to Olinda Falls. Bring your own lunch or buy at a café in Olinda.

Come and enjoy a delicious morning tea in the courtyard to find out about the programs and events at this Neighbourhood House.

Community Lunch at Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre  
5, 12, 19 and 26 October

Enjoy this social gathering and healthy two-course meal providing relief to our diverse community of people with disability or facing hardship.

Celebrating Willowview Centre: 30th Anniversary

Willowview Centre has been running social support groups for residents 65+ living in the City of Yarra for 30 years.  Come and have a look at our facility, meet participants and staff, and find out about our services. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.

All the Queens Men – The Coming Back Out Tea Dance

All The Queens Men LGBTIQA+ Dance Club is a regular favourite at the Collingwood Town Hall, but this will be a special edition for Seniors Festival. Don’t miss out on this dance club event of the year including fabulous food and beverages.

The Bent Twig Alliance – LGBTIQA+ luncheon

Our Clubs, Our Stories

Join us for a celebration of Yarra's wonderful seniors' groups, including cultural dance, lunch, and screening of 'Our Clubs, Our Stories', a short film comprising interviews with members of an array of ethnic social clubs that call Yarra home.

Birds of the Birrarung - Aussie Bird Count Workshop

Join us for the annual Aussie Bird Count along the picturesque Yarra/Birrarung river. Count bird species, connect with nature, and make new friends along the way. Wear sturdy shoes and be a part of this exciting avian expedition.

Children’s Week falls within the Victorian Seniors Festival and this is a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational connection and play. Enjoy musical events, roving entertainers, and community information stands.
