Business and Industrial Land Strategy
Council adopted a Business and Industrial Land Strategy at its meeting on 5 June 2012.
It guides how much land is required for industry, offices, commercial and retail activities, and what mix of activities is appropriate. It also includes recommendations about areas that could be rezoned to achieve an appropriate balance.
It covers all land in commercial and industrial zones except shopping precincts. Shopping precincts were excluded from the strategy because they are likely to be covered by separate structure plans or local area plans focused on retail and related activities.
It was written prior to the introduction of the new commercial zones so it refers to land in business zones which are now called commercial zones.

Council's Housing Strategy aims to plan for and manage housing growth and change across Yarra to 2026.
The strategy, which was adopted in October 2010, considers Yarra’s capacity for housing growth and identifies areas capable of accommodating increased residential development.
We are currently preparing a new Housing Strategy.

Yarra Heritage Strategy
The Heritage Strategy 2015-2018 is a four year plan that helps Council and the community to identify and protect heritage places, sites, traditions and objects that are historically important to Yarra. It also helps us to raise awareness and appreciation of heritage.
It includes goals and strategies under the following headings:
- Knowing our heritage
- Protecting and managing our heritage
- Supporting our heritage
- Promoting and celebrating our heritage
